Over the span of five years, Health Care Relocations provided the Markham Stouffville Hospital with Operational Readiness and Move Coordination services including patient and equipment relocations, OPOI, and consolidation of redundant assets in support of their multi-year renovation and expansion project which doubled the size of the hospital and equipped it with state of the art technology. The new 4 storey facility underwent an expansion of 388,000 square feet and a renovation of 250,000 square feet.

The planning processes began in 2009 and took on a gradual approach consisting of 11 separate phases. The OPOI portion began in November 2012 and was completed in August 2014. The consolidation process was accomplished during most phases beginning in November 2012. The physical relocation of patients was divided into 4 separate moves as follows:

March 1st to March 12, 2013 Relocations, Patient Move (March 10th), Consolidation – 124 Patients – Nurse Practitioners, Professional Practice, OH&S, Organizational Development, Child Development, Infection Control, Medical Clinics, Respiratory Therapy, EMG, EEG, Administration including Scheduling, Finance and Payroll, Human Resources, Medical Library, Emergency Department, SPD, Inpatient offices, Day Surgery, PACU, Pharmacy, Outpatient Mental Health, Depot Clinic, Social Workers, Hospitalists, Diagnostic Imaging, Surgery, ICU/CCU, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, NICU, Medical Rehab, Dieticians, Patient Relations, Doctors Lounge, Crisis Offices, Chest Pain Clinic, Falls Clinic, and 5 ORs

October 4th to 7th, 2013 – Consolidation, Patient Move (October 6th) & Relocations – 50 Patients – Medical/Rehab & Trans Care Inpatient Unit, Telemetry, Short Stay Surgery, CCC, Medicine, ALC, Social Workers, Learning Center

December 13th & 15th, 2013 – Patient Relocations – 60 Patients

August 20th to 24th , 2014 – Patient Move (August 24th) & Relocations – 80 Patients – Administration, Finance, Decision Support, Inpatient Offices, Morgue, Facilities, Medicine, CCC, Outpatient Rehab, Central Registration, Dieticians, Adult Diabetes Clinic, Mat/Child Clinic, Peds Clinic, Chest Pain Clinic, Social Workers, Human Resources,
