Brockville General Hospital is a growing community hospital, located on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in Brockville, Ontario.
Phase II of the $131.2 million Brockville General Hospital Redevelopment Project, a P3 partnership between Brockville General Hospital, EllisDon and the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term-Care, saw the construction of a 175,000 ft² attached patient tower, as well as approximately 20,000 ft² of renovations to existing spaces. This expansion provided an additional 93 inpatient beds and allowed for the consolidation of Palliative Care, Restorative Care, Complex Continuing Care and Rehabilitation services that were previously provided at the Garden Street site, approximately one kilometer away.
HCR was retained to provide move planning and relocation services for both patients and assets that were moved from the existing Garden Street site into the new tower. HCR spent nearly a year planning for the move with the hospital, which was executed over five consecutive days in October of 2020. During the first four days of the move, HCR performed the physical relocation of all medical equipment, furniture, staff contents and supplies. On the final day of the move, HCR coordinated the safe, single-day transfer of 39 patients, who were moved from the Garden Street site into the new tower.
