430,556 ft² | 40,000 m²

The Centrum at Huddinge for Operation and Intervention (CHOPIN) project at Karolinska University Hospital Huddinge involved approximately 430,556 ft² / 40,000 m² of new construction and renovations for surgery, intervention and radiology services. The new building has a total of 23 operating rooms and 27 imaging, function and intervention departments, as well as a sterile technical department.

After providing a variety of Transition Planning Services and completing the massive relocation of the Karolinska Solna Hospital, HCR was selected by Karolinska University Hospital Huddinge to provide asset relocation planning, move management, risk management and facility activation services for the CHOPIN Project.

Following months of detailed planning, HCR coordinated the complex relocation of radiology services that were located at Karolinska University Hospital Huddinge into the new expansion and renovated spaces. These services were safely relocated in parallel with ongoing operations in March 2020.

Due to construction delays, the surgery and intervention unit moves were delayed. Despite the COVID-19 outbreak, HCR returned and completed these moves over a 1-week period in June 2020, implementing appropriate precautions to ensure hospital, patient and staff safety.
