Reeves County Hospital District is a designated rural and frontier county and is also designated as a Medically Underserved Area and a Health Professional Shortage Area. The Reeves County Hospital District serves a very rural community with a high indigent population, providing more healthcare services and providers at the local level to greatly reduce the burden of travel for many residents who otherwise might not receive the care they need.

The $80-million Reeves County Hospital project involved the construction of a new 140,594 ft² replacement hospital, located just around the corner from the existing facility. The new hospital includes 25 all-private inpatient beds and expanded the services to include a level four emergency department with eight exam rooms and three trauma rooms, a delivery suite, a nursery, a women’s imaging department, a physical therapy gym, a fifteen-bay dialysis unit, surgical services space, an inpatient/outpatient lab, a cardiovascular rehabilitation program and space for support services.

HCR was selected to provide Facility Activation, Asset Move Planning, Physical Relocation and Patient Move Planning and Coordination services for the project. HCR’s Facility Activation work began well in advance of the move, in April of 2021. HCR worked closely alongside facility and project staff for over a year to plan and prepare for a seamless transition of both assets and patients. Once the facility was fully furnished & ready for occupancy, HCR executed the physical relocation of all assets that were moved from the existing hospital to the new facility. This work was completed over five consecutive days in mid-November 2022. On the sixth and final day of the move, HCR coordinated the safe transfer of 8 patients, marking the official opening of the new replacement hospital.
