Lions Gate Hospital is a major referral facility and Level 3 Trauma Centre, serving as one of five Neurosurgical Centers in British Columbia and a designated Regional Advanced Stroke Centre. As the hub of the Coastal Community of Care, it provides specialized acute and diagnostic services to patients across the North Shore, Sea-to-Sky Corridor, Sunshine Coast, Powell River and the Central Coast.
To replace outdated infrastructure, enhance care delivery and improve inpatient medical, perioperative and support services, Lions Gate Hospital constructed the six-story, 234,385 ft² / 21,775 m², 108-bed Paul Myers Tower as an attached expansion to their existing facility. In addition to the construction of the new acute care tower, renovation work was also completed within the existing hospital, which included the construction of a connection between the new hospital and the existing Perioperative area on Level 2, and renovations to the Perioperative Services Central Check-in and Minor Treatment area, to improve staff and patient flows.
HCR was engaged to provide Project Management, Asset Move Planning & Relocation, Patient Move Planning & Coordination, and Asset Consolidation services for the project.
