Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, commonly known as “Sunnybrook Hospital” or simply just “Sunnybrook”, is an academic health science center located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It houses 1,346 beds (678 Acute beds, 468 LTC / Veterans beds & 168 Rehab beds). It is the largest trauma center in Canada, and one of only two trauma centers in Toronto.
Constructed between the existing E and F wings on Sunnybrook’s main Bayview Campus, the 3-story, 121,000 ft² / 11,241 m² Garry Hurvitz Brain Sciences Centre is an unprecedented hub of innovation in the field of brain science research and care. It houses numerous multi-disciplinary expertise from across the Hurvitz Brain Sciences Program, including the Harquail Centre for Neuromodulation, offering a range of neuromodulation strategies; the Murphy Family Centre for Mental Health, providing comprehensive inpatient treatment and care; and the Yuval & Lori Barzakay Brain Health Clinic, supporting Sunnybrook’s patients with multidisciplinary outpatient care. It also replaced the existing inpatient psychiatry space, that was previously housed within the adjacent F Wing, and consolidated numerous other programs that were housed in other areas of the Bayview Campus.
HCR was selected to provide Operational Readiness Planning, Staff & Asset Relocation Planning, Physical Relocation of Assets, Patient Transfer Planning and Patient Transfer Coordination Services in support of the project.
