Providence Care Hospital combines rehabilitation, complex medical care, restorative rehabilitative care, respite care, seniors rehabilitative care, palliative care, and mental health programs in Kingston, Ontario. Health Care Relocations worked in partnership with constructor EllisDon, which acted as ProjectCo. on this P3 Project involving the construction of a new 6-storey, 622,000 Ft² hospital. As the Transition Advisor, HCR spent 18 months prior to the move meeting with Providence Care staff at the two previous sites, St. Mary’s of the Lake hospital and the Mental Health Services Building, to create individual Move Plans and Move Guides for each department. These plans clearly outlined the timing and logistics of each phase of the physical move and allowed HCR to successfully perform a safe, seamless and timely physical relocation of all departments from both facilities into the new hospital over a period of only 19 days. HCR also assisted with the installation of some owner-purchased, owner-installed items at the new hospital. Once all departments were operational at the new facility, Providence Care’s Move Team followed a detailed Patient Move Plan and Schedule created by HCR and completed a flawless patient relocation. Coordinated by HCR, a total of 202 patients were moved into the new hospital in less than 5 hours and the transfer was completed 15 minutes ahead of schedule. To conclude, HCR provided consolidation and disposal of redundant assets.
