Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust is one of the largest National Health Service (NHS) teaching Trusts in England, dedicated to improving the lives of local people by providing compassionate, high-quality care across numerous hospitals and clinics throughout the Sandwell and West Birmingham areas.
In 2014, Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust embarked on a decade-long project to construct the 867,571 ft² / 80,600 m² / 736-bed Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) in Smethwick, near Birmingham, to ensure that area residents would have access to state-of-the-art health care for years to come, and to solidify their commitment to regenerating the area and creating more jobs.
HCR’s involvement in the MMUH Project began in 2022, when a detailed Relocation Review was performed, to assess the current state of planning that had been performed to date, in preparation for the relocation of staff, assets and patients that would be moving to the new MMUH from both the nearby City Hospital and Sandwell Hospital. Following this review, HCR developed a detailed Relocation Review Report of findings and recommendations, to assist NHS in ensuring that they had the right transition planning teams and required support systems in place to allow for a safe and efficient transfer of all programs and services. Following the Relocation Review, HCR was subsequently retained to provide Asset Transfer Planning, Physical Relocation Management, Patient Transfer Planning, Patient Transfer Coordination and Supervision services in support of the project.
