1,367,016 ft² / 127,000 m² | 161 Beds
Alberta Health Services, commonly referred to as “AHS”, is the single health authority for the Canadian province of Alberta and the largest integrated provincial health care system in Canada.
At a cost of $1.4 billion, the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre is the biggest government infrastructure project completed in the province to date. The 6-story, 1,367,016 ft² / 127,000 m² facility features more than 100 patient exam rooms and 161 inpatient unit beds, with over 100 chemotherapy chairs, providing increased space for clinical trials, outpatient cancer clinics, clinical and operational support services, research services and laboratories. This new state-of-the-art facility allowed AHS to consolidate services that were previously spread across several nearby sites (Holy Cross Centre, Foothills Medical Centre, Peter Lougheed Centre, Diagnostic & Scientific Centre, University of Calgary Heritage Medical Research Building, the Special Services Building and the Richmond Road Diagnostic & Treatment Center) into a single location, enhancing the quality of care for both providers and patients.
HCR was retained to provide Asset Transfer Planning, Patient Transfer Planning and Physical Relocation Coordination and Supervision services for the project.
