Campbell River Hospital: 348,000 ft² | 32,330 m² | 95 Beds
Comox Valley Hospital: 428,700 ft² | 39,830 m² | 153 Beds
The North Island Hospitals Project simultaneously constructed and delivered two new state-of-the-art hospitals to benefit Vancouver Island patients living in the Comox Valley, Campbell River and surrounding communities.
HCR provided Transition Consulting, the Installation of Owner Purchased/Owner Installed Items, Move Planning, Patient and Asset Relocation and Asset Consolidation services for Vancouver Island Health Authority in support of both newly constructed hospitals – the 153-bed Comox Valley Hospital, and the new 95-bed Campbell River Hospital.
In preparation for this project, HCR spent many months planning and consulting with key stakeholders to develop a detailed plan and schedule. HCR first received, inventoried, assembled, asset tagged, installed and/or placed all new assets to outfit both hospitals for occupancy. HCR then performed the physical relocation of all assets from both existing hospitals into the new facilities and collaborated with Vancouver Island Health Authority for the planning and coordination of the patient relocation.
Following the relocation, HCR also provided consolidation services for all redundant assets.
