Duke Medicine Pavilion is a major expansion of Duke University Health System in which a new 8 story, state-of-the-art surgical and critical care facility will meet the needs and comfort of patients and their loved ones. Health Care Relocations has been involved with project beginning in 2012 with the Comprehensive Cancer Center expansion.
HCR’s involvement in the Pavilion Project took on a four phased approach. For almost a year, HCR tracked packing slips and POs to ensure all materials received at the offsite warehouse were in good condition and the proper quantity. HCR unpacked, uncrated, assembled, retrieved assembly instructions/manuals and created master binders for the end user. Over the span of 15 days, all warehoused items were placed in the correct location, plugged in if applicable and inventory sheets were crosschecked.
Following the OPOI process, HCR performed the “IT Roll Out”. This process included safely delivering all new staff computers and printers to the proper location within the new facility, unpacking and removing all garbage, set up of peripherals and then performing cable management which included tie in to the phones for VoIP. In all over 900 devices were rolled out, connected and cable managed over a seven day period.
During the third phase, HCR provided the ongoing advanced planning requirements to successfully relocate hospital assets and patients over a ten day period. A total of 86 patients from either ICU or Stepdown were moved safely into the new facility.
Our final phase was the inventory of remaining items left behind in the vacated units. This process was completed swiftly and a report was submitted upon completion.
