Valley Health System is a regional healthcare system, serving the residents of northern New Jersey and southern New York with exceptional, world-class healthcare in a regional healthcare setting.
In late 2019, Valley Health began construction on a new 875,000 ft², 372-bed facility in Paramus, New Jersey, to replace their existing 590,000 ft² hospital in Ridgewood, located approximately 2.5 miles away. This additional space allowed them to provide 372 new conversion-ready, all private inpatient rooms, a dedicated women’s pavilion, a highly advanced, integrated interventional platform, diagnostic imaging, and a new emergency department, making the New Valley Hospital the heart of the new forty-five-acre health and wellness campus, and ensuring that the highest quality acute and emergency care will be available to the community for years to come.
HCR was contracted to provide Warehousing Management, Installation of Owner Purchased Equipment and Furniture, Move Planning and Physical Relocation services for the project. For nearly two years, HCR worked closely alongside Valley Health, their representative, Concord Healthcare Development Inc., and Medical Equipment Planner, Covalus, as well as all other project stakeholders, to prepare for a seamless transition.
HCR’s full-time staff managed Valley Health’s off-site warehouse for nineteen months leading up to construction completion, coordinating the receiving, delivery to site, assembly, and installation/placement of over thirty-thousand pieces of owner-purchased equipment and furniture required to outfit the new facility. This work was completed between June 2022 and January 2024, in parallel with move planning and scheduling for the relocation of all reuse assets that were transferred from the existing hospital.
When the building was ready for occupancy, HCR staff returned to execute the asset transfer plans and perform the physical relocation of all reuse equipment, contents, files, staff belongings and other contents that were safely and expeditiously moved from the existing hospital to the new facility. This work was completed over the first two weeks of April 2024, marking the official opening of the New Valley Hospital.
