Planning for this extensive relocation was completed in less than nine months with the relocation taking place during four separate phases amounting to 33 days in total. The phases occurred over a 90 day time span culminating with the patient relocation. The distance from the legacy campus to the new campus was 10 kilometers through the heart of Pittsburgh and the relocation was complicated as 12 existing buildings were relocated into 7 new buildings spread over several city blocks.
HCR provided their vast patient relocation experience during the move of 236 patients over a 5 ½ hour period. As a result of advanced planning meetings and detailed scheduling, there was very minimal downtime and no disruption to patient care.
