McLaren Health Care Corporation is an integrated, managed care health care organization in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. McLaren operates 15 hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, imaging centers, a primary and specialty care physician network, commercial and Medicaid HMOs, home health and hospice providers, retail medical equipment showrooms, pharmacy services, and a wholly owned medical malpractice insurance company.
The McLaren Greater Lansing Replacement Hospital Project involved the construction of a new 560,000 ft², 240-bed replacement hospital to consolidate two existing hospitals at the Greenlawn and Penn Campuses. In addition, a new 124,000 ft² Medical Office Building, 50,000 ft² Cancer Center and 70,000 ft² detached Medical Services Building were also constructed.
HCR provided Move Management services for the project through a joint venture with CBRE Healthcare, who provided operational readiness and facility activation services. HCR spent two years working closely with CBRE and McLaren Health to carefully plan for and schedule the complicated relocation of assets and patients that were relocated from numerous sites into the new facilities. This move was executed over a 2-week period between February and March 2022. The single day patient transfer was completed on Sunday, March 6th and saw 108 patients safely relocated into the new facility over six and a half hours, marking the official opening of the new hospital.
