824,000 ft² | 76,550 m² | 368 Beds
The $2 billion expansion of the Stanford Hospital saw the construction of a new seven-story, 824,000 ft² building with 368 beds, 20 operating rooms, a 76-bay emergency department and a level-1 trauma center to accommodate more patients, offer the latest state-of-the-art medical technologies and meet current seismic requirements.
HCR was contracted to provide move planning and perform the physical relocation of all services, staff, assets and contents relocating into the new facility from the existing hospital, which remained operational throughout the project.
In advance of the move, HCR provided packing seminars to prepare the 4000 physicians, nurses, staff and volunteers that were relocating for the move. Customized move plans and move guides were distributed to each department, outlining their specific relocation requirements and schedule, to ensure everybody was informed and familiar with the process prior to the relocation.
Once the new building was ready for occupancy, HCR performed the physical relocation of all services and associated assets and contents. These moves were completed over a two-week period in November 2019.
