With more than 1,000 beds, the UNC Medical Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill comprises of North Carolina Memorial Hospital, North Carolina Children’s Hospital, North Carolina Neurosciences Hospital, North Carolina Women’s Hospital and North Carolina Basnight Cancer Hospital.
In 2019, UNC began the construction of a new 357,000 ft² | 33,166 m² | 80-bed Medical-Surgical Tower, located adjacent to the existing North Carolina Memorial Hospital, to replace the dated operating rooms at that facility and provide both staff and patients with enhanced state-of-the art surgical spaces, upgraded pre-and-post operative rooms and additional waiting areas for families.
HCR provided Building and Staff Readiness Planning, Asset Transfer Planning, Physical Relocation of Assets, Patient Transfer Planning and Patient Transfer Coordination services in support of the project.
