Providence Living is a faith-based, non-profit health care organization that was established by Providence Health Care in 2017. With the goal of redefining the collective expectation of long-term care in British Columbia, they’ve been working to replace existing traditional care homes with genuine communities that will improve the experience of seniors and others in need of long-term care for years to come.

Providence Living at The Views (initially to be named Providence Living Place, Together by the Sea) was constructed adjacent to St. Joseph’s General Hospital in Comox, British Columbia, to replace the aging The Views long-term care facility, which opened in 1982. Inspired by the world-famous Hogeweyk, the world’s first ‘dementia village’ in the Netherlands, the new facility was designed as a homelike environment, with 156-beds structured into separate ‘households’, with up to twelve residents in each.

HCR was selected to provide Asset Inventory, Staff and Asset Transfer Planning, Physical Relocation of Assets, Resident Transfer Planning and Resident Transfer Coordination Services in support of the project, which began in the Fall of 2022, and concluded in July of 2024.
