Extendicare is the leading provider of long-term care and home care services for seniors across Canada. Operating a total of 125 Long-Term Care Homes and providing approximately 9.9 million hours of home care services each year, they are the largest senior care provider in the country.

In support of their ongoing commitment to help people live better lives, Extendicare’s national, multi-year, “Building For The Future” project aims to rebuild every older home in their network, allowing them to significantly increase their overall care capacity for the growing numbers of seniors in need of high-quality care, while delivering a renewed and stronger long-term care system for Canadians across the country and for future generations to come.

As part of this initiative, Extendicare replaced its aging 40,000 ft², 122-bed West End Villa in Ottawa, Ontario, with a new, state-of-the-art, 155,689 ft², 256-bed facility in nearby Stittsville, called Extendicare Crossing Bridge. This new home not only provided all private rooms, modern amenities and more comfortable, spacious, living environments for the existing West End Villa residents, but also gave Extendicare the much-needed extra space required to accommodate additional residents who had been waiting for placement.

HCR has assisted Extendicare with numerous projects in the past, and was selected again to provide Asset Transfer Planning, Physical Relocation of Assets, Resident Transfer Planning & Resident Transfer Coordination services for this project.
