Extendicare is the leading provider of long-term care and home care services for seniors across Canada. Operating a total of 125 Long-Term Care Homes and providing approximately 9.9 million hours of home care services each year, they are the largest senior care provider in the country.
In support of their ongoing commitment to help people live better lives, Extendicare’s national, multi-year, “Building For The Future” project aims to rebuild every older home in their network, allowing them to significantly increase their overall care capacity for the growing numbers of seniors in need of high-quality care, while delivering a renewed and stronger long-term care system for Canadians across the country and for future generations to come.
As a part of this project, Extendicare’s existing 43,750 ft² / 4,065 m² Kingston, Ontario facility, which was constructed in 1973, was replaced with a brand new 118,823 ft² / 11,040 m², 192-bed facility, named Extendicare Limestone Ridge. Over double the size of the previous building, this new state-of-the-art facility enhanced privacy, comfort and infection prevention and control standards, with fully private rooms, each with their own bathroom. It also provided the additional space needed to increase capacity, with an additional forty-two beds added for area residents needing care.
HCR was selected to provide Staff & Asset Move Planning, Physical Relocation of Assets, Resident Transfer Planning and Resident Transfer Coordination services in support of Extendicare’s new Kingston facility.
